Nicaraguan Missions Trip a Grand Success

14 Students and 11 adults ventured from Faith Academy to Managua Nicaragua to take Christmas to an orphanage and to minister to a Christian school this December.

We were so blessed to have our Elementary Students collect shoes for the team to take and disperse to the orphans, a gift that greatly impacted the entire group.  The faces of the children as they got to try on a new pair of tennies was priceless!  Faith students played with the kids while Dr Lane Freeman and Stuart Nunnally of the dental firm, Nunnally and Freeman of Marble Falls, administered dental services to the children and workers at Land of Judah Orphanage in the nearby village of Masatepe.

Names such as Henry, Justin, Juan, Maria, Isabella, Francios, Nadia and many, many more will remain engrained in our thoughts and prayers for years to come.

Following the time at the orphanage, the group helped build a school classroom at the Monte Hermon Christian School in Cedro Galan.  They also restored the sports court at the school, including new nets for the basketball goals and soccer goals.  Painting of the church fellowship area was also an undertaking.  All in all, the group will probably remember the wonderful Sunday fellowship with the people of the Iglesia Bautista de la Luz more than anything else.  Worship, even when you don't understand the words, is a powerful experience.

The group took one day (Sunday) to shop at a nearby village and to visit the Masaya Volcano (active), from which the photo above was taken.

Members of the group include Seniors Taylor Hicks, Deanna Hoover, Ryan Johnson, Nathan Michie, Travis Michie, Laura Lykken and Kristyn Stagner; Juniors Taylor Vaughn, Zach McAnally and Travis Roeder; Sophomores Eva Noxon and Beth Ann Berkman; Freshmen Hannah Long and Brian Freeman.

Adult Members include Stuart and Rebecca Nunnally, Rusty and Lane Freeman, Mark and Pat Marrs, Mary Nunnally, Sherry Long, Emma Earwood, Coach John Berkman and Mark Earwood
